Getting Started: Basic Steps and Posture
To conquer the Ballroom Waltz as a beginner, it is crucial to master the basic steps and posture. This is best done with a coach but I will talk you through the first 3 steps.
Start by standing tall with your partner, maintaining a straight posture with shoulders relaxed. As the music begins to play, the leader takes their first step with confidence - stepping forward with their left foot, shifting their weight smoothly onto it, followed by a step with their right foot sideways , not to big, and finally, bringing their feet together by moving the left foot to the right. The movement starts all over again this time using their right foot first.
The follow mirrors the steps though they are dancing backwards.
Example leader left foot forward, follower left foot back.
